Adoption

adoptionBringing a new dog or cat into your home is a big decision. In the emotion and excitement of the new addition, don’t forget the practical side of caring for an animal.

All animals adopted from the Humane Society are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and registered with the Department of Agriculture (Puppies and Kittens will be scheduled for vaccination boosters, deworming, and spay/neuter based on their age).

Galleries of the dogs and cats available for adoption are updated monthly. We try to keep these as current as possible; however, that is often difficult with the number of dogs and cats in and out of shelter. Please consider stopping by to meet our furry friends.

The adoption fees are:
CI$ 150 for puppies
CI$ 125 for adult dogs (collar and leash included)
CI$ 250 for small breed dogs
CI$ 70 for cats and kittens

These modest fees help to cover the cost of:

  • Vaccinations and Treatments
  • Spay or Neuter
  • Heart Guard (an heartworm preventative)

The fact that you’re thinking about adopting from an animal shelter means you’re a responsible and caring person. But before you make that decision to bring a furry friend into your life, take a moment to think over these questions:

  1. Why do you want a pet?
  2. Do you have time for a pet?
  3. Can you afford a pet?
  4. Can you have a pet where you live?
  5. Are your living arrangements suitable for the animal you have in mind?
  6. Will you be a responsible pet owner?
  7. Finally, are you prepared to keep and care for the pet for his or her entire lifetime?
